Attitude for 31st of March 2011

It is so hard when I have to and so easy when I want to” by Annie Gottlier.

Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful ‘engines’ that there has ever existed. You can do a lot more with ten people who are burning with enthusiasm to do something than with one hundred people who are indifferent and apathetic. If people do not want to do something you will have to drag them and think of zillions reasons to motivate them. Enthusiastic people will not need any push from outside as they have a pretty strong drive from inside.

So, if you think how to do one thing or another, you’d better first check if you have enthusiasm to do that thing or not. If you do not have it, the answer of how to do that will not help you much. You should have power to do the thing and then you can think of how to do it. Enthusiasm will give you zillions of how, apathy will only show the bad side of the thing and will give you a zillion of reasons how difficult or impossible it is to do the thing. So, make enthusiasm as number one driver in your work and life. That’s the right attitude to start, continue and finish anything you undertake to do.

Attitude for 30th of March 2011

A person who has good thoughts cannot be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked nose and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely” by Roald Dahl.

Good looks are very important in modern world. Everybody wants to be beautiful. Lots of money is spent on trying to perfect natural human beauty. Operations are done to put you in good shape or look sexy. This is a multibillion dollar business now. Everybody contemplates how to look beautiful from outside and very few people think how to make their inner life more beautiful. Nobody cares about beauty of character any more. Almost nobody!

And very few people want to communicate with those who lack exterior beauty. ‘Ugly ducklings’ are not in vogue now. However, if you have beautiful thoughts in your mind they will make you beautiful from inside and this will affect your body as well. I do not mean you will become a princess or a prince after being a ‘frog’ all of your life. No, but inside beauty subconsciously attracts people. Although people are running after exterior things they are still spiritual beings and are subconsciously attracted by spiritual things. So, you may not be a beauty but cherish beautiful thoughts and these will break through your face, eyes, words and actions. People will want to be with you. And you will never be ugly. So, take care after beauty of your spirit, it will pay off in the long run.

Attitude for 29th of March 2011

The only disability in life is a bad attitude” by Scott Hamilton.

I believe you have met people who have some physical disabilities but have a sunny attitude towards life. I am also sure that you have met people who are absolutely healthy, but their attitude towards life is horrible. They are always unhappy, complaining about the smallest trifles and pretty often are in a bad mood. So tell me now, who is really disabled, the one who has a physical disability or the one who has a bad attitude? I believe it is our attitude that makes us ‘spiritually disabled’ or happy in all spheres of life.

I know that people who suffer constant pain due to their health problems struggle to retain a cheerful attitude towards life, but our attitude is the only thing that can make us or break us. So, those who have broken bodies can still have a positive mental attitude and be happier than those who have perfectly healthy bodies and ‘perfectly bad attitudes’. Their attitude disables and blinds them. They cannot see tremendous treasures that God has given them and opportunities that they could use every day to make their lives even better. So, work with your attitude and try to see that other people are in a much worse position than you are. It will help you to retain a positive tone in life.

Take interest to be interested

Attitude for 28th of March 2011

Just because you are miserable does not mean you cannot enjoy life” by Annette Goodheart.

Lots of people are dependent on their feelings. They trust their feelings more than their minds and even beliefs. In fact, they base their daily or even long term decisions on their feelings. That is not right. Our feelings are the most unstable things that there can be. They change daily and the change is influenced by zillions of reasons. I hope you do not want to base your life on something that is so changeable. You want to base it on something that is stable.

It should be your attitude and worldview. So, if you feel sad, it does not mean you cannot enjoy your life. Why? Because sadness is just a feeling that will change very soon. Do not allow yourself to be tossed by various trifles and never allow something from outside to spoil your mood or make you nervous. Take your feelings in to a complete control of your positive attitude. Let it dictate how you should feel. If you do this, you will be able to enjoy life even under difficult circumstances. So, do not allow your feelings rule you, but you rule your life by means of your attitude.

Attitude for 27th of March 2011

Nothing is interesting if you are not interested” by Hellen MacInness.

Things, objects, subjects, people or any other phenomena can be interesting in themselves. However, I hope you have noticed that this interest fades away pretty fast. Naturally, when a new thing loses its’ newness (and it usually does very quickly) we search for something new to interest us. So, it means that majority of people get interested from outside and their interest does not last very long.  People search for something ‘outside’ to motivate them and forget that the major source for inspiration, motivation and interest is not outside but inside.

You have to learn how to motivate yourself and keep interest running not for a few days or weeks but the whole year until you find something else which you think is more valuable to take interest in. You can get interested in something even if the thing in itself is not interesting for you at all. If you try to read about it, try to understand a little bit more about it you will see how it becomes interesting for you.

I remember how I disliked mathematics at school. Why? I did not understand it. However, when I would understand some topic in mathematics it would immediately become interesting for me. So, if you have to do something that is awfully boring for you and you cannot avoid doing that, try to take interest in it. Change your attitude towards it. Try to understand it. Why should you kill your time by doing something with dislike or even hatred? Change your attitude towards the thing and your experience and feelings towards the thing will change as well. Good luck in doing that.
