Thought for the day 1st of May 2011
“Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed” by (Benjamin Franklin and Jonathan Swift).
I do not know the full context in which the words were used, but I do not think this is the attitude you should adopt in your life. I know that people are afraid and do not want to be disappointed. You can evade this by not expecting anything. However, how can you stimulate yourself if you do not expect anything? If you don’t expect anything you will hardly have inspiration, which is a must if you want to achieve something.
There are a lot of disappointments in life. So what? They come and they go. You learn something from your failures and go on further. You should be afraid to waste your life and not to get disappointed or fail. These things are part of learning process. Only those never get disappointed who don't do anything. They get pretty big disappointment at the end of their lives though. If there is expectation there will definitely be a disappointment, because we do fail. But on the other hand, when you succeed and your expectations are more than met you experience a tremendous feeling of satisfaction. Don’t be afraid to fail, for everyone who seeks, finally finds. So, seek, expect and go in the direction of your expectations.
