„Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith“ Hebrews 12:1-2.
People have always needed examples to follow. They choose various people and model their lives after those people. They read their books, listen to them talk, try to see the secret of their success. In this way the followers finally become similar to their ‘models’ in their thinking, speaking and behavior.
Christians have set Jesus Christ as their teacher, model and even Lord of their lives. They want to become like Him in their thinking, speaking and behavior. The very word Christian means ‘Christ-like’. I also try to pattern my life after Jesus. It is not easy, but everything is possible for those who believe. He gave His Spirit to His disciples to help them to achieve the purpose.
Where are you looking at? What do you place your focus on? Whom are you following? If you centre your thoughts on something or somebody for a long time you will start becoming more and more like that person. So, choose whom you model carefully, for after modeling results appear it will be difficult to change back if you do not like the way you have become.
