Thought for the day 4th of July 2011

We have to confess our sins

Confession is the topic of the post on the blog ‘Thought for the day’ today. The theme might sound very unusual for you, especially if you don’t believe in God. However, I believe every one of us (from time to time) does something wrong in life. This brings a sense of guilt, which many people try to get rid of in many ways. Some try doing good works, others try to ignore the sense of guilt, some start drinking to quench the sense of guilt and others tell their friends about their ‘sins’. I believe we should confess our sins and bad works to God and sometimes to our friends in order to get rid of those things and find peace for our consciences.

How sin came to this world

Believe it or not there is such a thing as sin. It has not always been there. When God created heavens and earth everything was perfect. The first humans Adam and Eve were also perfect. They did not know what anger, lust, envy, pride and similar things are. They were pure in their thoughts, words and actions. However, one day they decided to disobey God. When they did it, spiritual harmony between them and God Almighty was lost. Their nature changed for sin perverted it.

We confess our sins to God, people in authority and friends

In order to come back to His presence we have to confess our sins to Him and believe that He forgives us. If we are very much overpowered with guilt, our friends or His ministers could help us find forgiveness of God when we confess our sins to them. However, we should never forget that it is God who forgives, not a human. Forgiveness comes from Him.

Forgiveness through Jesus

So, if you feel heavy guilt (and maybe not very heavy) you can kneel down in your room today and ask Him for forgiveness in Jesus name. He will forgive you and your sins will be wiped away. Guilt should leave you then.

God bless you.
