Change

For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else” by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

People are afraid of changes

Change is the foundation for progress. A lot of people are afraid of changes for any change can mean not only gain but also a loss. When everything is ok, most people would never want to change anything in their lives. There has to be something drastic for people to change their lives dramatically. When we get in desperate situations we are forced to change. You may wonder why it is difficult to achieve something for you or why some people achieve something great while others stay in the same ‘hole’ for decades or even all of their lives. I believe one of the answers is that successful people are desperate while those who do not go anywhere have confirmed to their present circumstances for one reason or another.

Become desperate for a change

You have to get fed up with where you are, what you do, how you are and what you have in order to gain something greater. Spiritual satisfaction is good if it comes when you achieve something or you understand some spiritual truth about life, God, people, success and etc. However, it is very bad if you are satisfied with your miserable situation and you are not going to change something. This kind of satisfaction leads to stagnation and puts you further away from your calling and your dreams.

Inner dissatisfaction leads to changes

Dissatisfaction can be quite of risky. Why? When you are dissatisfied and want to change something, it may mean leaving or even losing your comfort zone. It is a principle in life which you cannot neglect. If you want to gain something you will have to lose something. But, the other side of the coin is that by losing something you will most probably gain something even greater than you had had before you took a risky step. Well, you also risk not to gain anything greater but simply to fail. Should you be afraid of that?

Failures lead to positive changes and success

Definitely not! Even if you fail you gain priceless lessons about life and how to do things better next time. Remember the famous quote by Thomas Edison:” I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work”. By saying this he justified his multiple failures to produce an operational light bulb. He finally did it. Now we take for granted that we have electricity in our homes, but it took a man who was willing to sacrifice all his life to bring electricity to our homes. He learned from his failures and so should we. Failures are not our graveyards; they are our platforms for success.

A change will lead you from misery to greatness

So, are you willing to lose something which might seem as a guarantee of your security in order to take a risk to gain something that would gain you great success, independence, financial freedom, ability to be on the top and similar things? I believe it’s worth it. You simply need to decide what you really want in life and don’t stand for anything less than that. Then, my friend you are on the path of exchanging something terribly small to something terribly big. Good luck.

Attitude for 17th March 2011

“If you don’t like something change it, if you cannot change it, change the way you think about it” by Mary Engelbreit.

Life without changes would be an awful bore. Imagine the same daily routine, day in and day out, the same job, the same meal every day, the same piece of entertainment. Pretty boring! Now, imagine that you hate what happens in your life on a daily basis. What do you do about it? Some people simply complain and do not do anything beyond that. Can that change anything? Yes, it will make the experience even worse. Do something about it and you will not have to complain. We have power to change things, but we are too lazy to do that. Most people just sit and wait for something to happen. What kind of power can change your life? Abstract? No, it is your willingness put into practice. Do something about it.

What if nothing happens? It is possible. Some changes come very slowly. One thing that you should do while waiting for the change and speeding it up you have to change your attitude towards the thing that you don’t like. Try to find something positive about it. If it is your job and you cannot start doing the job of your dreams yet, try to see that this job you have now is useful for you now and see it as a preparation for something better. Do not think that you are wasting your time. This can have a very negative impact on your emotions. You are not wasting your time if you put your whole heart into it. You are learning something. You are progressing. You are going forward. When you change your way of thinking about the thing, it won’t be such a bore for you. On the contrary, it can even become a pleasure. And finally you will definitely find yourself in new circumstances. God bless you in your efforts to change your attitude.
