How to deal with negative thoughts

I bet all of us have found ourselves thinking the very thoughts we want least in our heads. These negative thoughts just invade our minds and do not leave us alone. The more we try to quench them or get rid of them the stronger they become. You should not be surprised by that. Suppressing those negative thoughts actually make them stronger and cause you to generate or store up a lot of negative energy inside of you.  What should you do then? Let us quickly look at that. The post will not be very extensive, but it will give you a few ideas on the subject.

1. Do not try to fight with those thoughts.

It is a battle that you will surely lose. For one reason or another, those thoughts find place in your mind and you have to deal with the cause not the effect of the problem.

2. Direct your attention elsewhere.

By fighting the thoughts you give them too much attention and by giving them your attention you give them your more power over you. Direct your attention elsewhere. Start thinking about things that really interest you!

3. Do not be afraid of those negative thoughts.

Fear will not help you. Understand this. A thought will not harm you in any way if you don’t allow it to. You are the master of your thoughts. Even the best and the most moral people occasionally have ugly thoughts. They do not concentrate on them. You shouldn’t too!

4. Fill your mind with nice images.

If you cannot imagine something nice yourself go to Google and search for some nice images of nature: waterfalls, jungles, exotic birds, mountains, clouds, oceans, lakes, rivers or the places that you have always wanted to visit. The negative stuff will go away really fast.

5. Listen to calm and nice music.

Thoughts come in various forms. They may come in words and images. But they can also come in the form of music. Music or art is a form of speaking. So, you just listen to those who have spoken their hearts and minds to others in the form of music and other forms of art and get a dose of good emotions, feelings and thoughts.

Ok, I believe that if you follow just a few of those tips you will be able to replace all of your negative thoughts with positive ones. Always remember that you are the master of your thoughts. Let it be so!

Positive thoughts versus negative thoughts

Positive thoughts versus negative thoughts are the topic of ‘Thought for the day’ blog today. Living on this planet you cannot avoid having both types of thoughts. Naturally, one day you would have more good thoughts and another day more bad thoughts. However, living ‘naturally’ can mean that you are out of control with your thoughts, but something else, for example ‘nature’, or fate, or weather, or some physical laws decide what thoughts come and stay in your mind. Although everybody of us will have bad days where you sort of battling bad thoughts, I do believe that we can reduce these days to a minimum.

Do not fight negative thoughts

Fighting bad thoughts is monkey’s business. You will only strengthen them by doing that. You probably know that both positive and negative thoughts have their own energy and power. A wise thing to do when those bad thoughts come is not to fight them but capture them and use the power of them to make them positive and use for positive purposes. How is that done?

Negative thoughts tend to put you on fire: get you angry, nervous, and irritated. The other thing that those thoughts do is they immediately paint a gloomy picture about this situation or that person and etc. You take away the power of those thoughts by immediately changing course of your thoughts. If  you failed at something instead of meditating on that you simply try to encourage yourself by saying that next time you will do better or by remembering how you were able to do something like that some time before. Negative thoughts fail to achieve their target – make you angry and pervert your way of thinking. And they lose power. At the same time, positive thoughts automatically gain power.

This was just one piece of advice on the post. I am going to expand on the topic in my future post. I hope this short article was useful for you. If it provoked you to think than my target was reached.

Positive thoughts

Positive thoughts are the topic of my blog ‘Thought for the day’ today. We cannot talk about positive thinking, positive attitude or positive mentality without discussing importance of positive thoughts in developing these on a daily basis. In fact, it would be illogical to talk about positive mental attitude without understanding that thoughts are the foundation of any type of thinking, negative or positive. A set of thoughts constructs a certain paradigm or pattern of thinking, which later controls our lives. Thoughts are like bricks which you build your house of mind with. So, be careful how you build your house and be sure to use positive thoughts as bricks for your house. Of course, if you want your house to be strong.

Positive thoughts carry positive energy

Most people look at thoughts as some inanimate objects that have no big influence on us. However, nothing can be further from the truth. Thoughts do carry energy which can be used to build your life or destroy it. It is quite obvious that positive thoughts carry positive energy which you can build your life with and see how everything around starts blossoming. On the other hand, negative thoughts are full of negative energy which can ruin your life if you continue dwelling on them for too long.

Learn to monitor your thoughts

We cannot live with empty minds. There always is some thought in our mind and very often there can be quite many of them even at the same time. You have to study yourself and see which thoughts you can allow to stay in your mind and which you have to get rid of. By monitoring your thoughts you will understand yourself better too. So often we do not understand why we behave as we do. Most of us would like to get rid of some bad character features but are not able to. The answer to the problem lies in our thoughts.

Get rid of bad thoughts by replacing them with good and positive thoughts

What do you do when you notice bad thoughts in your mind? You have to get rid of them. It is much easier said than done. How do you do it? You simply replace them with good and positive thoughts. It means you change direction of your thoughts. By concentrating on negative you allow negative thoughts to reign in your mind. By concentrating on positive you push all negative thoughts out and invite positive thoughts that immediately start changing your attitude, feelings and reactions to the things that can be of a very negative nature in themselves.

Invite positive thoughts by looking at everything from a positive point of view

Most people do not understand how they can fill their minds with positive thoughts. That is not difficult at all. Just try to see every situation from a positive point of view. Let us say you have lost a job. It is a serious problem, right? However, this can also be a big opportunity for you to get a much better job or even start your own business and become financially independent. You can concentrate on that or you can start complaining and crying because you have lost your income. Some people when facing a problem immediately lose all hope and some even start drinking. Everything depends on your attitude. I would encourage you not to give in to negative thoughts and feelings, but concentrating on the bright side of life. You will see how this will help you to go through all hardships in life and get a better job.

There can be a lot of things that can be said about positive thoughts. I think I only scratched the surface of the topic. Therefore, I am going to update this post together with a few more posts which I consider to be very important. If you want to learn more on the topic I recommend reading a few of my previous posts:
