Burning past bridges

I remember watching the movie “Kelly’s heroes”. It was cool and fun. That is classics now and Clint Eastwood as well as other actors’ performances was great. The song that gives the theme to the movie was ‘Burning bridges’. That is a very good idea for anyone who wants to advance in his dreams. You have to burn all your past bridges: both your failures and your successes.

In most cases you have to burn some of your memories too. I mean you have to stop associating them as something that was the best in your life. Remember, if you want to live and not merely exist you have to believe that the best is yet to come. Nobody, except you can find your path. And nobody can walk that path, except you. So, why listen to those who are outside and staying behind. They are either going nowhere, or they are going their own paths and haven’t got a clue of what it is to walk your path. Only you know the price, pain and what it takes to walk the path.

So, what is keeping you from marching forward your way? Is it friends, memories, family, your own false beliefs? Do you think you are finished? Well, I have some good news for you: you are not finished and if you dare to believe then the best is yet to come.

Christians say that God is the God of new beginnings. Are you ready to embrace a new beginning? Or you prefer staying in your past memories, embracing and kissing your past bridges? Be brave to forget your past and get ready for new victories and passing (conquering) new bridges. And then burn them too.

Never give up if you fail to get past new challenges. They will succumb if you do not give up. Ok, so let’s burn those bridges and go forward.

Thought for the day 1st of July 2011

Inspirational love quotes

Inspirational love quotes is the topic of the post on the blog ‘Thought for the day’ today. Love is probably the most necessary thing in the world. We were created in love, we were made to be loved and God called us to live by loving others. I know that it is better to show it than to talk about it. However, before we do something, we often have to think about it first, say it second and finally do it. This applies to both spiritual and non spiritual practices. Love is firstly conceived in our minds by means of our thoughts; it is then expressed by our words and actions. Let us look at some thoughts about love that can help us to understand love better and inspire us to share the feeling with others.

"People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Love them anyway" by Mother Teresa.

A perfect description of unconditional love! This is how God Almighty loves us and this is the way we should learn to love one another and even those who are hostile to us. A difficult task? Yes, but if you want to accomplish it, nothing is impossible for you.

"We need not think alike to love alike" by Francis David.

I could not agree more. Love is a universal thing and is not entirely dependent on our thinking, character, temperament and many more things. It is a substance which you either have or don’t. It is also your attitude towards your fellow person. You change it and love disappears. Let the attitude and the feeling grow stronger though.

"Love is a medicine for the sickness of the world; a prescription often given, too rarely taken" by Dr. Karl Menninger.

Lots of psychological problems would disappear if only people would feel more love towards them and share it with others. Since love has been a motive for us to be created you will always feel disharmony when you lack it towards yourself or do not give it to others.

"The reason why all men honor love is because it looks up, and not down; aspires and not despairs" by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Love alone probably has all other possible good qualities such as: faith, patience, goodness, joy and etc. That’s why it is always positive. It believes that a person can change from bad to good and from worse to better. It always has a hope for a better future.
I hope you were blessed by these inspirational love quotes.

Inspiration

“Without inspiration the best powers of the mind remain dormant. There is a fuel in us which needs to be ignited with sparks” by Johann Gottfried Von Herder.

Inspiration is the topic of the post on the blog ‘Thought for the day’ today. It is one of the essential things in our daily lives. We need it wherever, whenever, whoever we go with and are. We need it at our work, in business type relationships, creative activities, daily routine, families and even our leisure time. Most probably you are aware of the fact how difficult it is to start a new working week and how badly you need inspiration to go to work and do the best job you can. I personally like reading inspirational Bible verses to push me up: http://bible-verse-of-the-day-blog.blogspot.com/p/inspirational-bible-verses.html. You need to find inspiration each morning to do mundane things of life and feel joy at the same time. I have good news for you, it is possible to lead an ordinary life and be inspired daily.

How I define inspiration

Firstly I want to tell you that I see difference between inspiration and motivation. I hope to talk about the latter tomorrow. I define inspiration as an aroused emotion or a feeling that moves you to do things according to the nature of the feeling or emotion. This feeling can be aroused by some understanding, revelation, illumination, good weather, nice music and very many other things or people. As highly emotional states cannot last for a long time, inspiration is usually short term. Depending on your reaction to the stimulus and the power of your stimulus you may even feel tired after being inspired for a longer period of time.

Positive and negative effect of inspiration

This may sound negative, but it is not. It adds you extra energy, allows you to enjoy your activities more and most important it gives you pleasure to do those mundane things in life. Problems start when you don’t do anything without inspiration. You should not get addicted to it. There will be days when you feel it more, and days when you feel it less, or do not feel at all. It does not mean you don’t have to go to work or go only when inspiration comes back. No, you should learn to combine it with logical thinking and your responsibilities. You should also learn how to attract inspiration.

How do you attract inspiration?

Morning is the time you want to get it. Reading some inspirational thoughts in the morning could be a good place to start. Thinking about good things that have happened in your life is also recommended. Listening to calm and inspiring music is another thing you might try. A cup of black coffee helps me to arise some positive feelings too. Doing light physical exercises will keep your blood running faster and this will help you to feel better and more open for inspiration to come. You could try a piece of black chocolate or any other thing for ‘self indulgence’. I would recommend mixing those activities. Try thinking, doing, listening, eating, drinking, praying and etc. This would affect your whole personality, not just one piece of it. And you will get inspired much faster. Good luck.
