Thought for the day 24th of May 2011

Anywhere is paradise; it’s up to you” author unknown.

I do not think that any place can be a paradise out of itself, but it becomes such when a person who comes to the place brings the attitude that makes the place a paradise. No place can be a paradise or a hell on its own. People make it a wonderful paradise or a living hell. Hell comes to a place where people entertain hellish attitudes and values and vice versa, paradise comes to a place where people have adopted heavenly attitudes and values.

I know it might be problematic for us if we cherish heavenly attitude and come to a place where most people have adopted a hellish attitude. You should share your views and beliefs with them in a firm but polite way. However, as any person has a free will you may never know whether those people accept your ideas or not. You will see both situations. In some cases, people who are tired of their way of living will be willing to adopt different values. In other cases, people would just be willing to stay where they are and continue their destructive way of life that is engendered by their way of thinking. However, you can make any place a paradise. Carry this attitude with you.

Attitude of loving-kindness

Monday, May 23, 2011

Thought for the day 23rd of May 2011

Anywhere you go liking everyone, everyone will be likeable” by Mignon McLaughlin.

Another good point about the power of your attitude! Where do you find people that are likeable? Anywhere. It does not depend on place. It depends on the state of your mind and your attitude. If you have made a decision to love and like everywhere at whatever cost you will always find people who are likeable and lovable. And they will not be likeable and lovable out of themselves. That’s how you will see them through the ‘glasses’ of your attitude.

And you will also arise loving-kindness in those people by looking at them with and attitude of loving-kindness. So, don’t put too much expectation on places or people. You are not a victim who meets only rude and mean people. Start seeing people and the world as God’s creatures and this attitude of a victim will leave you and an attitude of faith in people will stick to you. When everything inside of you changes, everything outside starts changing too. That’s how the law of attraction works. You attract things according to your dominating thoughts. Let loving thoughts dominate in your life.

Don’t concentrate on misery, concentrate on happiness

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Thought for the day 22nd of May 2011

I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains” by Anne Frank.

There is a lot of misery in the world. We know that. However, the knowledge of that and stating the fact that evil and misery exist does nothing to remove those things from the world or even to reduce the amount of them. If you concentrate on the misery, you will only increase it for by concentrating on something you give power to it to grow and increase. It takes something else to remove misery from life. What is it?

You have to concentrate on the good. Really? Yes. You cannot destroy darkness by concentrating on it. You cannot remove it by being angry at it. You remove it by turning on the light. Light has power to cast away darkness. In the same manner beauty and good destroys evil and misery. You give power to good, beauty and other good thing in life by meditating on them and you welcome them to your life by constantly thinking about them. This also dispels all misery and evil from your life. So, give yourself to positive thoughts.

Learn from your failures

Friday, May 20, 2011

Thought for the day 21st of May 2011

Whenever you fall, pick up something” by Oswald Avery.

You heard me saying this thousand of times:”Failing is unavoidable, but you should also see the bright side of it”. Some see failures as something tragic. They are not. They are something great. By failing you find out how you should not do something. That’s the attitude you should have towards your own mistakes and those that other people make. A mistake becomes a tragedy when you make it one. It is not one out of itself. So, why you make it what it is not? It is a grace of God for us to learn. Learn from your mistakes.

Don’t identify yourself with defeat

Thought for the day 20th of May 2011

Defeat is not bitter unless you swallow it” by Joe Clark.

The author of the quote does not say here that we shouldn’t acknowledge our defeats. We do lose and to tell the truth it happens very often. A path to victory is to admit defeat when you have one. That’s when you stop and think why you had it and what you can do in order to win next time. This kind of mentality will bring you victory in the end. That’s how we learn. After falling we pick ourselves up and think what to do next time in order to have a different outcome.

However, we should never identify ourselves with defeat. We should never consider ourselves losers. You cannot take losing as your identity for it will really make you one. Our mental identity forces us to become people we associate ourselves with. If you see yourself as a failure you will become a failure even if you are not one now. Mistakes, failures and defeat are not causes for you to beat yourself, lose self confidence and self esteem. They simply teach you how to live. But they should not become reasons for you to humiliate yourself and consider yourself to be a loser. No, see yourself as a winner and you will become one.

It takes efforts to find both joy and sorrow

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Thought for the day 19th of May 2011

The excursion is the same when you go looking for your sorrow and when you go looking for your joy” by Eudora Welty.

It takes time, efforts, patience and struggle to find both joy and sorrow. You have to take a separate path to find each one of those. The paths are different but the amount of your energy to get to the place of your destination might be very similar. We sometimes assume that it takes a lot to be happy, successful and prosperous and it takes nothing to be unhappy, always failing and poor. Nothing can be further from the truth. In each case you adopt a certain way of thinking. Then you live according to that type of thinking. Finally you arrive at the fruits of your thinking: good or bad.

So, if both things take efforts to achieve, why walk on the path that leads to misery? No point. Change your direction. It won’t cost you that much as you may imagine. It will cost you more not to change your direction. And you will have regrets after some time. Don’t be afraid, it’s better late than never. You aren’t too old, stupid or poor to walk the path that leads to happiness and success. Any time is the right time. I hope you will go looking for joy!

Be interested in changing seasons

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Thought for the day 18th of May 2011

To be interested in changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring” by George Santayana.

Life consists of many seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and years. It also consists of many various seasons. There is something interesting, special and worth living in every second, minute and etc. So if you have a special season and you only live to see it you waste and kill a lot of your time as well as of your life. You’d better get rid of this type of state of mind.

Start exploring each moment of your life to see meaning and some purpose in it. God meant you to do something with your life, enjoy each season, share joy with others and inspire those that do not have hope anymore. Do not attach too much of your affection to any season. They all come and go and your life continues while you grow older. One day you will leave this world and go to the other side of eternity. Live so as not to have regrets at the end of your journey. So, be interested in all seasons and use every moment of your life to live it to the fullest.
