“Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing“ Luke 23:34.
Jesus, the Son of God is a great example for us. He not only taught how one should behave, He lived what he preached. A lot of us can preach one thing and do a completely different one. This is called hypocrisy. Real life always tests our beliefs and words. We tend to behave egoistically. However, it does not have to be that way. We can learn to live self sacrificially. We can forgive others. Why?
Because we have example of Christ! He forgave those who did tremendous harm for Him. We can also forgive because He gives us power to forgive. Only those that see reality beyond this life can do that. Imagine forgiving someone who wants to kill you or tries to kill you. I do not think we can naturally do it. However, history shows that Christians in the first centuries (and up to now) were able to forgive those who persecuted them and died blessing their persecutors. A very serious lesson for us! Let God help us to learn it! Make Jesus Christ your example and you will become as He was (and is).
